Personalised Exercise Programmes
Personalised Exercise Programmes based on SPS in-depth assessment are fundamental in restoring you back to full fitness and function.
Specific Tailored Exercises are prescribed to facilitate a speedy recovery from your injury and to assist in the prevention of further problems.
Rehabilitation in gymnasiums with personal trainers typically focuses on strength and endurance building exercises and cardio vascular training.
In the main the majority of personal trainers do not have any kind of true medical background. They are not therefore the best people to be prescribing exercises for clients who may be carrying injuries or are returning to the gym post injury.
As well as the reduction of pain and inflammation during the early stages of treatment SPS believe it is very important to provide patients with a facility that can cater for all of our patients needs as they transition from treatment to rehabilitation.
We have specific Clinical areas to allow patients more comfort as well as giving us space to provide adjoined treatment rooms for ultrasound, or interferential therapy for example.
We have a dedicated Rehabilitation Room with a great variety of apparatus to facilitate the use of physical therapy, as well as aerobic and anaerobic exercise equipment used to assist in strength and endurance.
We are therefore able to cater for patients in different phases of their recovery, or with different physical requirements to receive optimal care and to have tailor made exercise programmes..
These tailored exercises prescribed to each patient are focused around their sport, exercise, training and/or activities they are struggling to perform with their presenting injury.
This is a weekly progressive plan that will become more challenging and sport / activity specific as the weeks progress ensuring rehabilitation adherence throughout to provide a successful return to sport or work.
Types of exercises these programmes contain include:
Proprioception exercises
Proprioception also means balance exercises, these exercises teach your body how to control movements and positions around your injured joint. As a Therapists it is our role to get our patients to a quality subconscious proprioceptive state, which is important during every sport and primarily during everyday life. It is a great way to prevent further injuries. These types of exercises include balance and exercises on uneven surfaces either both for the injured and/or the uninjured limb.
